In 1925 Lions Clubs International and its members were challenged to become ‘Knights of the Blind’ by Helen Keller, the highly intelligent and sensitive deaf/blind woman who overcame her difficulties to write, speak and labour incessantly for the betterment of others. Ever since Lions have risen to that challenge, currently with the huge success of the International SightFirst and Campaign SightFirst II programmes.
